I am 21, and since i was 18 or 19 I always thought about having a tattoo, but in all the occasions i always ended up, saying No, it lasts forever, or my mom will get mad, and etc.
However i have now the intention to get one, and probably more! I think that I've come to a final decision, but still have some worries. I definitely don't want something on my arm, hand, chest(not yet) , face(i know sounds weird but there are people who actually have one in that part of the body, mostly close to the neck, so i consider it face), and private ares(close to them). I want my tattoo either on the back, shoulders…
but my worries are….
1) i donate blood kind of frequently, every 3-4 months, and if i get one, that means no more donation until 2010!
2) could i get a transfusion?
3) will it hurt? (should i smoke a pack of camels and go to the body shop in that condition?)
4) it is expensive to get a nice tattoo, in LA area? or could i go to my country peru, and get it there?
5) is it better to have a tattoo with colors, or plain(just black)?
6) could i go to the beach like before? would skin protector be necessary, or would that make me hurt the tattoo section more?
7) how long does it take to recover? can i lift weigh right away? drink, smoke? should i wear dark or light clothing?
i need help!
pd: i got one place close to my house, in artesia, ca, have any of you guys gone to this one place by pioneer blvd, close to south street, like 10 blocks away from both FWYS 91, and 605? it is a good place?
I probably get the tattoo by february or march!
i want and need feedback, feel free to jot anything down, and tell me if my choices are good, or bad. i hve in mind many options, like a map from my country (PERU), close to my left shoulder, the year i was born in roman MCMLXXXVII, my football team coat (SPORTING CRISTAL), a cross the one from appetite destruction from GNR first album, my signature, my lastname on my back(like a jersey from any sport with the name of the player)
bye
To respond to your worries:
1) Most places will let you donate blood 6 months after you get a tattoo
2)Yes, you could still get a transfusion. The only reason you can't give blood after you get a tattoo is because they're afraid of infecting other people. This has nothing to do with RECEIVING a transfusion.
3) Most people find that it really doesn't hurt that bad at all (Mine tickled actually). It feels somewhat like if you've ever fallen and scraped your skin on asphalt. It hurts a little at first, but the numbness overcomes the pain.
4) Good tattoos are somewhat expensive, yes. But do not sacrifice quality for a good price. And it is better to get your tattoo in the US because there are much better health standards.
5) This is a matter of personal preference. In my own opinion, I think Black and White tattoos look better, but again, it's all opinion. If you seen a colorful design that you would want tattooed, go for it!
6) You will be able to go to the beach, but yes, you will have to use a skin protectant. Sunscreen of at least 30spf (which you should be using anyway) would be sufficient. Direct exposure to sunlight could cause the tattoo to fade and lose shape.
7) Depending on where you get the tattoo, you should be fine to do almost anything right away. You still have to take care of it, obviously, but it shouldn't impair you from any normal activities. Clothing doesn't matter.
Your Ideas are good, I like the idea of putting a map of Peru. I would stay away from using your name, though. It's a little bit tacky to put your own name on your body (Again, my opinion). But ultimatly it's your decision!
